Nancy Lee Luck Riley

She was born June 9, 1931 at the Shenandoah Hospital in Roanoke, VA. She was the daughter of Gilbert Clayton Luck and Amanda Poteet Luck. She grew up in Bedford, VA and graduated from Bedford High School. Following high school, she graduated from Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA and the Medical College of VA: School of Nursing, Richmond, VA. She worked in the operating room at MCV and also was an instructor at MCV School of Nursing.

In 1960, she married William J. Riley, MD and moved to Newton, NC (Catawba County). He died in 2003. In 2009, she moved to Elon, NC to live with her daughter and her family.

She is survived by her brother, Gilbert Clayton Luck, Jr., whom she named Gibo. She is also survived by her daughter, Siobhan Greene and husband, Mark and their children, Eric and Aislinn. She is also survived by her son, Christopher Riley and wife, Tina and their children, Corinne, Patrick, Genevieve, and Brendan. Her son, Brian predeceased her in 2005. Brian’s widow, Warnie and their children, Burke and McKinley survive.

The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Newton, with Father Jim Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. at the church.
