

Born December 13, 1947 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Lee Eugene and Katherine Louise Reese Thornburg. Nancy was a charter member of First United Methodist Church in Conover where she was the church historian, served on various committees, and was an officer of the United Methodist Women at the church and the district level. She had worked for Holloway and Mast, CPA, and earlier in life was an avid bowler.
Survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law Wayne and Virginia Thornburg of Conover and Harold and Ruthie Thornburg of Conover; nephews and nieces Ronald Thornburg of Conover, Alan Thornburg and wife Jamie of Conover, Michael Thornburg of Conover, Mark Thornburg and wife Shannon of Taylorsville, Derrick Thornburg of Conover, Laurie Cashion and husband Michael of Conover, and Jeff Thornburg and wife Kim of Conover; great nephews Logon, Tucker, and Lee; aunts Cecil Mae Feather and husband Nevin of Hickory and Holten Thornburg of Conover; and numerous cousins.
A Service of Remembrance will be held 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Conover. Rev. Mickey Moree and Rev. Dixon Adams will officiate and burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery in Newton.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton.
