Born May 26, 1962 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of Carolyn Hedrick DeHart and the late Marvin DeHart. She was a dedicated employee with Walmart for over 29 years.
Sherry was passionate about breast cancer awareness and made it her mission to educate everyone she met. She urged everyone to pay attention to their bodies and to advocate for themselves.
She had a generous, giving spirit, often sharing delicious meals, cakes, and brownies with her friends and co-workers. She loved to crochet and was constantly working on handmade blankets for her friends’ babies, even while she was going through chemo and radiation treatments.
In addition to her mother, those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Summer DeHart-Caudill and husband, Scotty Caudill; brother, Marty DeHart and wife, Joanna; niece, Alix Alfaro; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; “adopted” son Jimmy Hefner, wife Lana, and their children, Natalie and Joseph; special friends Deb Bailey, Pam Watson, Jimmie McKinney, Christina Hovis, Angie Drum, Cole Northern, and Samantha Sierra.
A celebration of Sherry’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019 in the Chapel of Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home in Newton, with Rev. Rich Irwin officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sherry’s name to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
