Wilma Ruth McRee Baker, age 101, passed away on Friday, September 02, 2016 at Abernethy Laurels. Born April 22, 1915, she was the daughter of Archibald Alonzo McRee and Fanny Dell Shook McRee. Ruth was a member of Beth Eden Lutheran Church in Newton and found happiness in making a home for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Preston Hoke Baker Jr.; brothers, George, Clyde, Fred and Hubert McRee and sisters, Margaret Keener and Etta Frye.
Left to cherish her memory are numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 5, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory with Pastor Marcus Ollis officiating.
Her family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 5, 2016 at Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home.
