

Alice was born on the family farm in Andover Township to the late George and Mida (Hendershot) Smith. Alice grew up there where she attended the Clinton School, a one room schoolhouse. Alice wrote a history of the Clinton School which was published in the New Jersey Herald. She was a 1948 graduate of Newton High School.
Prior to her retirement, she was a secretary at Sussex County Welfare Board. She was a member of the Sussex County Art Society, her favorite style being watercolor. Alice was also a member of Newton Seniors and the Sussex Spinners.
The beloved wife of the late Robert L.Vealey, Alice is survived by her daughters, Pamela Hartmann and her husband Donald, Gayle Hull and her husband Glenn, Valerie Clasby, and Barbara Vealey and her husband John Curtis; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and her longtime companion, Gerard Prosapio. Along with her husband and parents, Alice was predeceased by her brother, Lawrence Smith and her sister, Joyce Betz.
Interment will be held privately at Newton Cemetery and is under the direction and care of Smith-McCracken Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered online at www.smithmccrackenfuneralhome.com
