Dennis was born in West Orange, NJ on July 24, 1958. He attended Morris Hills High School and graduated in 1976, going on to become a warehouse manager in the shipping and receiving department of various establishments over the years. Dennis also worked at R & T Nautilus Fitness Center and soon became a familiar smiling face to many locals around Sussex County. Most recently, Dennis was a SCARC employee where he was awarded Employee of the Year in 2022.
In his spare time, Dennis enjoyed being outdoors, hiking, and riding his bike on the trails. He particularly liked biking through the Kittatinny Rail Trail. Since before he could drive, Dennis had a passion for music. As an avid concert go-er in the late 70’s and most of the 80’s, he saw any and all acts of the classic rock era; with Lynard Skynard & the Allman Brothers leading the way. To this day Dennis still spent his time enjoying live music, most recently seeing Dead & Co. over the summer and with intent to go to see more. Above all, Dennis loved spending time with his adoring family. One month before his passing, Dennis took a long trip to Oklahoma for his son’s (Johnny’s) wedding where the entire family was able to gather together in celebration.
Dennis leaves behind fond memories to his three children, Jenna Banfield-Van Boerum, Derrick Banfield, and Johnny Banfield; his granddaughter, Riley Van Boerum; and his brothers John & Robert Banfield. Dennis is predeceased by his mother, Mary; and his sister, Marie.
A Memorial Visitation will take place on Monday June 26, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Christian Faith Fellowship Church, 3188 NJ-94, Franklin, NJ 07416. A Memorial Service will follow from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
