Joey was son of the late Anna and Edward Moszczynski and the eldest of 5 kids in his family. He had a sister, Liz Linn, a brother, Mark Moszczynski and the youngest who are twin sisters, JoAnn Coyne and Catherine Lee. He was raised in Lyndhurst, NJ and attended Essex Catholic High School.
In 1983, Joey ventured out to the countryside with his late wife, Sue Murasko and had a son named Matthew who they both adored watching play baseball, football and whatever other sports activity he was involved in. They also enjoyed long walks with their dog, Diamond.
Joey was a journalist most of his life. He went to Grahm Junior College in Boston for 2 years, then finished his liberal arts degree from Rutgers University. He worked for the Star Ledger, the New Jersey Herald and did freelance work. His mother used to save all his news articles relishing each of them. Joey loved writing human news stories about people and the challenges they faced in life. His infamous quote was, “Save a journalist, buy a newspaper.”
After retiring, Joey spent his days playing Scrabble, watching Turner Classic Movies and listening to his favorite rock and roll bands like Queen, David Bowie, The Ramones and a small Long Island band called ‘The Good Rats”. He also was an avid reader and a loyal New York Mets fan. He enjoyed the outdoors, nature and what he called the “simple life”.
