Peter was born on November 12, 1946, in Jamaica, Queens, NY to the late L. William and Evelyn M. (Johnson) Jordan. Peter grew up in Union, NJ and lived in Vermont before settling in Sussex County in 1974.
Peter was a proud Army veteran who served in the 5th United States Army, 46th Artillery in Korea. He was a SGT assigned to the Motor Pool as a truck vehicle mechanic. While serving in the army Peter was awarded the Korea Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Army Good Conduct Medal. His commitment to his country extended beyond his military service as he became a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW), Newton Post 5360, as well as an active member of the American Legion Post 157 Branchville, and the American Legion Riders Post 157.
Prior to his retirement, Peter owned his own automotive body shop in Bethel, VT, where besides repairing automobiles, he also did custom paint jobs on motorcycles. In 1974, Peter was employed as an Autobody Technician at Condit Ford Motors. In 1987, Peter became an ASE World Class Technician. He earned this prestigious professional status by testing for and obtaining certification in 22 specialty areas in the automotive industry. His expertise earned him respect and a spot on the ASE Hall of Fame.
Outside of work and service, Peter had a deep love for motorcycles, particularly Harleys, and could often be found on the beautiful, winding, open roads of Vermont, embracing the freedom and thrill of riding. Peter often spent time outdoors on his boat with a rod in hand or crabbing on the Barnegat Bay. Peter had a membership in the PADI Diving Society where he earned his Open Water Diving certificate. Another life accomplishment was becoming a licensed clam farmer. Unfortunately, he had to relinquish his plot of water to begin his long battle with cancer.
The beloved husband to Alice M. Jordan, Peter is also survived by his daughters Tamara Gray and Rebecca Indelicato, his son-in-law Christopher Indelicato, his grandchildren Ryan and Ethan Gray, his sister Ingrid Jordan, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Peter will be laid to rest at a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Northern New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sparta, NJ.
