

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 22,1926, she was the daughter of Stella Pepel Konczynski and Waclaw Konczynski. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother, married to Thomas Zimich for 69 years.
Rita graduated from Nanticoke High School in 1943. Following graduation, she held a position as a pharmacy assistant. Later in life she worked as a member of the cafeteria staff of Newton High School in Newton, NJ.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, and trying new recipes. Rita liked to read magazines and had a green thumb for house plants. She loved animals, providing a comfortable home for several cats over the years. She enjoyed family and holiday get-togethers and occasional trips. Rita enjoyed playing Bunco and Bingo.
A devout Catholic, Rita was a parishioner of St Joseph Church in Newton NJ and a volunteer in the thrift shop at the church for several years.
Rita is survived by Trice Guella and husband, Terry, of Frankford, Delaware, Cathy Hough and husband, Bob, of Fayetteville, New York, Aggie Worthington and husband, John, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ed and wife, Melissa, of Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania, and Phil and wife, Janet, of Cresco, Pennsylvania, 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in-law John Zimich and wife, Irene, of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania; 3 nieces, and 2 grand nieces. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas, and her brother Stanley Konczynski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 am on Monday, February 10 at Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 24 Halsted St, Newton, NJ 07860, followed by Rita's final resting place in Saint Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St Joseph’s Church, Newton NJ or the Alzheimer’s Association.
