Robert was born in North Bergen on July 12, 1931 to the late Ernest and Marie Wehrenberg. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, enlisting in 1950. During his four years of service, Robert was stationed in Alaska as a Police Sergeant and earned commendation medals for Good Conduct and National Defense Service. After his military service Robert worked as a Millwright for Brennan Industrial Contractors through the Local 6 Union. Although he retired in 1992, he remained a member of the Union for the rest of his life. Robert was also a member of the NJ Peace Officers Association.
Robert is fondly remembered for his unwavering loyalty to the New York Mets. He and his late wife, Lorna, were avid fans and spent 29 winters in their Port St. Lucie, Fla. home where they loved watching the Mets during spring training. Among his many achievements, Robert was particularly proud of the home he and his wife built in 1958 with their own hands. His cherished home was the seventh house to be built in Crandon Lakes, and he relished looking over the lake and Kittatinny Mountains.
Robert is predeceased by his beloved wife, Lorna Wehrenberg. He survived by his daughter Laura Caldarella (Mike); son Robert Wehrenberg (Andrea); grandchildren Michael Caldarella, Christopher Caldarella (Colleen), Tasha DeFelice (Stephen), Kayla Caldarella, Tyler Wehrenberg, Carly Caldarella; and his great-grandchildren Olivia, Violet, Luke, Reese, Harper, and Madelyn.
