Barbara was born in Newton to the late Asa “Ike” Raymond and Dorothy (Stone) Martin. She was a long time Sussex County resident and spent some time on a farm in Cortland, NY before settling in Newton. Barbara graduated from Newton High School and worked as a Teller at several local banks. She was known for her love of bingo and bowling and her famous Christmas cookies.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was also predeceased by her husband, Wallace “Hank” Smith; and two brothers, Asa “Snookie” Martin, Jr. and James Martin. She is survived by her daughters, Sherri Smith, Joni Smith, and Vicki Smith and fiancé, Anthony Kays; her grandsons, Anthony and Derek Smith; and her brother, David Martin.
