I recently heard (today) of Ted's passing from my oldest daughter. My condolences to his family. I knew Ted while growing up in Sparta. Ted happened to be my Babe Ruth baseball coach. He knew baseball and was a great coach. Years later I had the opportunity to sit down with Ted and ask him about my oldest brother Stephen who died at the age of 9 when I was a toddler. Ted had known Stephen while they both attended school in Sparta. 
I also had a chance to work for Ted one summer in my high school years. I was responsible for mowing the grass in front of the Sparta Theatre. Ted had a knack for leaving me on the job and returned just when I was finishing up. His timing was perfect! Grateful that not only did he pay me but also bought me lunch at the Sparta Diner!
