Alice Vanderwal

Born Aaltje Ellens, March 14th, 1921 in Friesland Holland, passed into glory on September 6th, 2017 at the age of 96. She came to Canada in 1949 with her husband and stayed at home to raise her family. She was predeceased by her husband Henry (1996), sons Jacob (2008), Ozzie (2011) and two infants (1956, 1958). She is survived by her children; Ted (Linda), Agnes (Richard) Glockner, and Helen (Bert) Prinzen, and daughters-in-law Nancy and Susan. She was a loving Oma to Aaron, Ellen, Michele, Matthew, Alexis, Eric, Michael, Alissa, John, and Brian. She was also Oma to 14 great-grandchildren and is survived by her sister Jessie Terpstra and many nieces and nephews. Alice was an active charter member of the Niagara Falls Christian Reformed Church where she practiced her faith with humility, loved her children selflessly, provided hospitality to many and remained content through her life’s many challenges. Her final carefree years were enjoyed at Shalom Manor in Grimsby where she was treated with love, respect and dignity by the staff and volunteers.

The family will receive visitors at HETHERINGTON AND DEANS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 5176 Victoria Ave. Niagara Falls on Friday Sept. 8th from 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held at FAITH FELLOWSHIP CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 4878 Jepson St. Niagara Falls on Saturday Sept. 9th at 11:00am. A private interment will have taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Beacon Christian School or Shalom Manor Long Term Care Facility of Grimsby would be appreciated.
