Sending condolences to Bruce's family and friends. I had the honour of working with Bruce at CHED and CISN, and he was a bright light to all that had the opportunity to know him and / or listen to his wit and humour on the air.

I will cherish all the fond memories and the zany fun radio days so many of us shared.

I never met Bruce in person but he was with 630 Ched when he gave away front row tickets for the Police and Thompson Twins concert in 1984. I was so happy when I heard his voice and I got the tickets. Listened to him everyday in my teens....I heard his voice every single day and I recall even requesting songs from him. A true legend. My heartfelt condolences to his family. A life well lived.

My condolences to Bruce's family and friends.  He was part of my childhood before the age of digital media and his time on 630CHED leaves me nothing but fond memories of a simpler time.

I had a 13 year old girl crush on Bruce when my family lived in Piapot for a time. He was a sweet boy who treated everyone with kindness.

What I’ll remember most about Bruce is the way he made me feel. From the time we first met when he  had the morning show on CISN, he had a way of making me feel worthwhile in every conversation.  For a time after Bruce retired from the morning show, I would  come across him jogging through Mill Creek Ravine as I pedalled my mountain bike. I miss those early morning chats. I admired Bruce for being a committed Christian. His faith helped inspire my own. Being that we were about the same age, I admit that his untimely passing has shaken me, My thoughts and prayers are with Bruce’s family during this difficult time as we remember a life well lived.

Bruce was a great when he announced her and all the things he did for all the people in the world really great guy, he won't be sadly missed what will always be remembered by his family friends?  I'm especially all the staff at six thirty ched and all the lovely people that he worked with, they will miss him even more.

Bruce is fondly remembered by the Kuhlmann family here in Edmonton.  We have such good memories of when Bruce would spend a Sunday afternoon (many times on Mother’s Day) promoting our greenhouse and visiting with his many listeners. Always positive, kind and wonderful to work with. Our condolences to his family and friends.

In 1988 my family moved to a small town outside of Edmonton. Loving country music, it did not take me long to discover CISN FM, and the Morning Show with Bruce Bowie became my morning routine. I was having a hard time fitting into my new school, and Bruce was able to do something for me that I will be eternally grateful: he made me laugh. Bruce gave me a reason to look forward to every morning. I started calling into the show, often to share a joke, and Bruce was gracious in putting my jokes on the air. I don't know if he realized it, but the fact that he would talk to me gave me confidence and happiness when I needed it the most. His show became a family affair. We would bring him Christmas goodies each year. As I grew up and moved away from Edmonton, I looked for every possible way to listen to his program, and I would call him at the station whenever I could. He even had me as a part of his annual April Fool's day prank he would play on his listeners. In the summer I would try to get up to see him and make pancakes for him in the booth. I have missed him on the airways. I am truly grateful for the role he played in my life. When my mother and brother passed away, Bruce showed compassion and love to us. I am saddened by his passing, but I can attest that this world was a better place because Bruce Bowie was in it. Thank you Bruce. I love you. You were one of the people that inspired me to be a better person.

I had the opportunity to work with Bruce at CHED and CISN,I was in sales. He always took the time to say hello, always friendly and treat to be around, he literally up the room, always positive and fun. RIP

When I think of Bruce I remember his smile, his gentle way and his kindness. 

We worked together twice, first at CHED and later at CISN. Bruce taught a lot of us about radio, he also taught me about life.  Patient and supportive he was the quintessential pro off and on the air.  He was generous with his talent and never complained when he was asked to do more which was often. 

Bruce was the same with everyone no matter their situation or station in life.  He treated everyone with respect and dignity.   

I count myself richer for having known him.

I didn't personally know Bruce, but he was part of my everyday life. I woke up to him every weekday morning and listened to him during my long commute to work. He was a part of my life for many years. Condolences to his family. He touched many lives.

When Stan sent me an e-mail yesterday saying that Bruce had passed, I couldn't believe it. Not Bruce. ..One of fhe nicest, kindest, most humble men I've known.  My heart tightened at the news..and the loss.

But then,  my mind rolled back through the years and I smiled and felt the warmth of this man once again.  Way back when, Bruce worked at CHAB Moose Jaw, like I did. Radio,  back then, was so close to the community.  You stepped out the door onto Main Street and people knew you. And had something to say. Bruce never lost that.

There are many people with huge egos in radio, but Bruce was the exact opposite. Listening to Bruce was like listening to  a long-time friend across the table.  He left Piapot, but Piapot never left him,

I see him also as--yes--the overnight man at CHED...But I could tell he would soon be doing more.  A lot more. He always had that little chuckle, the little story that warmed your heart and made you want to come back for more. And we all did, Always. He was a friend who often talked to us when no one else was around. You hang on to someone like that. And we did.

The work Bruce did in the community was unbelievable. He actually slept in a dumpster to tell us what it felt like to be homeless, and have nothing.  And the work he did for the Stollery...He was so kind, so understanding when my grandson Kaelan passed away....

So gosh, this news is hard. But I want his family to know Bruce is, was, and always will be a kind, lovely man that I loved a lot

Shocked, stunned, and mostly saddened by Bruce’s passing. We worked together three times…at the launch of the legendary CHED Morning Crew, again when we left for KING-FM, and finally, briefly in Calgary. He was the consummate pro. A gifted broadcaster and an even finer person. Bruce was kind enough to include me on his final show before a well deserved retirement. It was an honour I’ll always carry with me.

My deepest sympathy to the family He was my no 1 favourite  dis jockey , I don’t know why, but he just was, I remember I told him that, and I think it deeply touched him

So sorry to hear of Bruce’s passing. I taught Daniel in grade 2 at Wye School - and I remember clearly Daniel’s parents coming to parent teacher interviews. 
Daniel was a great little guy and his parents-
kind, caring..good people. 
And of course truly enjoyed listening to Bruce’s melodious voice coming over the airwaves.

Rest in Peace Bruce! You brought a lot of joy in Edmonton in your morning show. I personally enjoyed many laughs at your creative abilities. You were definitely missed when you left radio.  I can’t imagine the hole that you will leave in the hearts of your family. You’re an amazing human. Heaven is up for some wonderful entertainment. Blessings and peace to the family. WHAT A LEGEND!!! I had the great fortune of working with Bruce on the morning show at CISN FM in Edmonton, and every single day was a masterclass in composure, kindness and professionalism. He knew what worked, appreciated his audience, and always collaborated and mentored his team like the finest kind of leader. How lucky I was to have known him and to have been a tiny part of his illustrious broadcast career. Sending much love and sincere condolences to everyone who loved him (and that's a LOT of people)

I am saddened to hear about Bruce.  I listened to him on the radio for many years and he inspired me to run marathons.   I send best wishes to his family for this tragic loss.  Doug Hunter

I am shock to hear about Bruce’s death. He would wake me up in the mornings, in the 1980’s. I loved his stories and passion for helping others. Bruce never knew me but I felt I knew him. Go in peace Bruce.
