Thoughts of Aunt Doris bring a smile to my face.  She had eyes that twinkle and such a distinctive uplifting laugh. 
Gatherings with your family were always so enjoyable.  
Doris was my mom's most cherished friend as well as sister-in-law.  She spoke of her often.

Loving and Kind, she was a great friend. Doris had a great smile, which always welcomed you to stay and sit awhile.
She made the best Fudge and was often called Mrs. Fudge, I can hear her giggle when someone would call her that name. 
Will miss our time together, thanks for being there when I needed a hug.

     To Doris Bredin's Family  -My friendship with Doris goes back to High School years at N.F.C.V.I.
                We lived five minutes from one another across Victoria Avenue.
         There was a group of about 7 of us girls who hung around together. We had 2
            summers at a rental cottage at Rathfon Point on Lake Erie, with Auntie Ruth doing
            the cooking and supervising.
          Doris and I graduated Grade 13 in '42--she was a top student !! She had to wait a year
            before going into Nursing, so she worked for her Dad at Barnes Electric. I started my
            apprenticeship and we became close friends, calling one another Barnesie and Mutie.
            It was then that Doris taught me to drive on Grandpa's old Terraplane.
          When the long hours as a Nursing student began, she had little time off and spent it with
             her family. I attended her impressive graduation at my home church, Morrison St.United
             I went off to University in Toronto, and we lost close contact.
          Our busy years followed as we pursued our professions and raised our families.
          One day I rang the front door-bell at their home and interrupted her baking. Moments
             later I too was dusted in flour.
          From that time on, we kept up a yearly contract, with our catch-up news on our Christmas
               messages.
          I will always cherish my memories of Doris and the Barnes family

Our sincerest condolences to you and your families in the passing of your dear, sweet mother Doris.
I enjoyed such a treasured friendship with her, spanning more than 40 years (and for Bob my husband, 27 years). Doris had a unique sparkle in her eyes that radiated from within.  It was a joy to chat with Doris at family visits, throughout the years. With her sweet, kind disposition and unoffending humour, Bob and I would always come away with a warm and cheery feeling, after being in her company. Whenever we visited Niagara Falls, Bob and I loved to drop by your parent’s home on Barker Street, to catch up with Doris and Jack over a cup of tea….or something stronger!  
I believe it was in to her seventies, when Doris and her sister, Grace travelled to visit us at our summer home in Newfoundland. What a fun week we shared with Bob’s parents, having friends "come from away".  For me, the most memorable event of their trip was standing on the dock in Trinity, Bonavista Bay watching Bob, with your mother and Aunt Grace, dressed head to foot in all-weather suits and waterproof footwear, toques and sunglasses, setting off to sea in a Zodiac boat with 10 other tourists. It was a beautifully sunny, cold and windy day. The grins on their faces were a sight to behold. And when they returned 3 hours later, wind-blown as they were and with stories to be told, they were still grinning from ear to ear. Such happy memories….
We will miss your lovely Doris. Our thoughts are with you all, as you bid her a fond farewell….
