Ernest George Kohnle

Passed away with his family by his side at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 90 years of age. Predeceased by his first wife Ann(nee Shand) and his second wife Olga(Kanat), his step-brother Albert McConnell, and by his brother Chuck Kohnle. Missed by his sister Anne Sawyer, brother Jim Kohnle(Margaret), his step-daughter Lynn Dekker(Rich), and sisters-in-law Barbara Kohnle and Earla McConnell. Fondly remembered by his nieces & nephews: David, Johnny, Danny, Sherry, Kathy Lynn, Kim, Rick, Carol Ann, Nancy, and Ruthie; and by his step-grandchildren Kim & Kristyn. Ernie served with the R.C.A.F. in his earlier years followed by a lengthy career with the Niagara Regional Police Service, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He was also a member of Clifton Lodge #254 G.R.C., A.F. & A.M. and the Niagara Shrine Club, an avid golfer, reader and history buff.

Family & Friends will be received at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, 5176 Victoria Avenue on Friday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home Friday evening at 6:30 PM. A funeral service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 3428 Portage Road on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10 AM. Interment in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Shriner’s Hospital for Sick Children would be appreciated.
