Giorgio 'George the Barber' Basile

BASILE, Giorgio "George the Barber" - Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at St. Catharines General Hospital on Friday December 25, 2015 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of 52 years to Carmelina Basile. Dearly loved and devoted father of Tony (Marcy) Basile and Cathy (Nick) Fabiano. Cherished and wonderful Nonno to Julianna and Luca. He will be missed by his mother-in-law Anna DeMatteis and by his family in Italy. George immigrated to Canada in 1954 and owned and operated a barber shop on Drummond Road for 53 years where he was affectionately known as "George the Barber". He loved cycling, videotaping and watching his grandchildren play basketball and soccer.

Friends are invited to call at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. visiting Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be celebrated at 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas More Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery. In memory of George donations in lieu of flowers to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by his family.
