McEwan, Gordon Howard - It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother Gordon, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the St. Catharines General Hospital.
He was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario on October 6, 1957, and completed high school at NFCVI.
Gordon began his working career at Rosbergs Department Store in Niagara Falls before joining Radio Shack where he worked as a store manager and he could solve many technical issues for customers.
He was predeceased by his cherished partner of 40 years Gilles Levesque (2020) and his loving parents Malcolm Joseph (1994) and Muriel Grace (2023). He is survived by his siblings Lloyd (Maureen) McEwan of Lindsay, Douglas McEwan of Fredericton, Len (Audrey) McEwan of Welland, Marie (Jim) Boyes of Ottawa, Dianne (Bob) Richer of Gatineau, Joan (Henry) Neufeld of Newark, and Catherine Henry of Toronto and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was a very kind and loving brother who brought beauty to our world with his many creative talents and special personal touches. Gordon was a gentle and loving person who went out his way to quietly make things special. One day as a teenager he thought it would be nice to learn how to make taffy apples to give out for Halloween and so a tradition was born, and the house became legendary as the "taffy apple" house, and this continued for 25 years! The torch was continued by the new homeowner, and they continue to this day.
Though Gordon will no longer be with us, his spirit, love and laughter will live in our hearts forever!
The family will receive friends at PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St., Niagara Falls, on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 12 noon – 1 pm, with the funeral liturgy at 1 pm. Rite of Committal to follow at Fairview Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish may make a memorial donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
