Passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by her loving family, at Niagara Falls Hospital. Beloved wife of 62 years to the late Natalino Palmieri (December 12, 2017). Dearly loved mother of Gennaro (Libby) Palmieri, Rina (Tony) Milani, and Mario Palmieri. Cherished Nonna of Michael (Samantha), Olivia (Dylan), and Anthony (Shaili) Palmieri, Carly (David D’Angelo), and Daniel Milani. Great-grandmother to Mila D’Angelo. Lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Pasquale and Maria Orlando, and her brothers, Francesco and Felice. Dear sister to Antonio (Anna Maria) Orlando and Peppino (Anna Maria) Orlando, both of Italy. Sister to the late Angela Iudiciani. Sister-in-law to Carmelina Villella (late Franco).
Lina and Natalino, along with their firstborn, emigrated to Canada from Calabria, Italy, in August 1963. They settled in Niagara Falls, first on Burdette Drive, later moving to Margaret Street, and finally to Biggar Road. Lina later returned to the “old neighbourhood,” settling on Hawkins Street.
Lina was a devoted stay-at-home mother, raising three children and five grandchildren. She especially cherished spending time and playing with her great-granddaughter Mila every Tuesday. Lina’s home was always warm and welcoming, filled with family photos, Italian music, and traditional Italian meals. She loved to bake and never arrived without a package of homemade goodies when visiting family. Sundays were family days, celebrated with feasts gathered around the table.
Lina enjoyed visiting the city market, taking drives along the Niagara Parkway—always amazed as if seeing it for the first time—knitting, gardening, and, in the quieter moments of the day, watching her favourite game shows and the Italian soap opera Un posto al sole. She will forever remain in our hearts.
