To my Dearest Mother, Magdalena Herrick, 

There are no profound words to say how sad I’m that you’re gone.  You deserve nothing but the upmost respect from everyone.  You have worked so hard your whole life, always thinking about everyone else and putting yourself last.  You have a big heart, a smile that shines the room when you walked in.  I know we had our differences, but we always worked it out.  Just remember GOD sees everything, which always brings me to this Bible Verse; in the King James Version of the Bible, 1 Timothy 5:1 states, Let no young man despise the elder This verse emphasizes the importance of respecting elders, regardless of their age or status.  It a call to treat them with reverence and not to belittle them or dismiss their wisdom.  I know you are a Religion person which you are a member of the SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST REFORM MOVEMENT CHURCH, which are called CHRISTIANS.  You always kept this Bible Verse close to your heart;

I have known Magdalena for the past 18 years.  She always opened her home to everyone and treated  all people with kindness and respect.
I have fond memories of being with her and her close friends at Christmas time. She loved to cook and made many Mexican and Vegetarian dishes and I cooked the turkey and mashed potatoes.  It was a big feast.
She will be sadly missed by everyone.  Rest In Peace

I am Earle Herrick's eldest daughter. Magdalena was my stepmother even though she was only a few years older than I am. I will always be grateful to her for caring for my father all the years she did. I called her “Mommy” and my children called her “Grandma.”  For Pamela and Amanda, my daughters, and for my three grandchildren, we send Mommy off with eternal love.
