

CARNEVALE-SMITH, Maria Antoniette 'Mary' - It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for the life she lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Carnevale Smith who left this world at the age of 52, with her beloved family by her side, after a courageous and private four-year battle, one she carried with grace, strength and quiet determination so not to burden those she loved. A devoted wife to her husband of 23 years, Bill and loving mother to her two daughters, Madison and Loren. Precious daughter of Rosaria (nee Palese) the late Luigi Carnevale and loving daughter in-law of Barbara Smith (the late Reginald Smith). Cherished sister of Lina (Joe) Vescio and sister-in-law to Ed (Judy) Smith and Sheri Smith. Dearest aunt to Sofia and Isabella Vescio, Caitlin (Matt) Cybulski, Hannah Smith, Sydney Smith and great aunt to Harley Cybulski. She will be lovingly remembered by many aunts uncles, cousins, co-workers and good friends. Mary was the heart of her family. Whether sitting poolside enjoying the sunshine, traveling to her happy place at Disney, or cheering from the sidelines at her daughters' soccer games, she lived with joy, purpose and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear. She lived with humility and optimism, embodying strength and faith even in her most challenging moments. She never gave up. Her quiet courage and positive outlook were hallmarks of her spirit. Always willing to lend a hand, she would do anything for anyone. One of her favourite saying was "if you will it, you will want it' a simple but powerful reflection of how she approached life, with heart, hope and perseverance. Mary was a dedicated and deeply respected teacher for 25 years with the Niagara Catholic School Board. The family would like extend heartfelt gratitude to the many health care providers who cared for Mary, namely Dr. W. Leung, Dr. Tariq al-Shujairi and staff, Dr. Claire Reade and the entire team at Juravinski Cancer center, the Palliative team at Juravinksi and home care nurses Iran and Tanya from Paramed Health Services. Friends are invited to join the family at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls, visiting Sunday July 27, 2025 from 1 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 9 pm. Vigil prayers will be held at the funeral home at 3:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday July 28, 2025 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Scapular Church with the Rite of Entombment to follow at Fairview Mausoleum.
