

Knobby was born February 2, 1920 in Devon, CT to Charles and Winifred Rogers. He was predeceased by his only brother Wilfred. Knobby served in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. In 1944, Knobby made the best decision of his life and married the love of his life, Betty Sistare, with whom his spent the next 69 years .In addition to Betty, Knobby is also survived by his four children and their spouses: Candace and Paul Bodenhofer of East Lyme, Craig and Shelley Rogers of Niantic , Keith and Alison Rogers of Voluntowm and Cary and Stacey Rogers of East Lyme. He also leaves five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Knobby was an electrician and a member of IBEW Local 90.
Although he was a hard worker, that was never the main focus of his life. He was a great playmate to his kids and their friends and could often be found skiing, sledding, skating or swimming at McCook’s He also always had a sailboat of some sort and spent as much time as possible on the water with Betty as crew. He was an avid golfer playing into his 90’s. Knobby was also a man who always loved to sing especially with the Flanders Baptist choir and the Seanotes Barbershop Chorus.
Knobby will be greatly missed by family and friends. It’s unlikely that anyone will ever remember Knobby without the thought ‘What a great guy” coming to mind.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 11:00 am at Flanders Baptist and Community Church, East Lyme. Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home.
