Gladys May Jutila left this world on January 2nd to join her husband Jimmy in heaven. She was born July 24, 1927 to Robert and Bertha (Dean) Broga and she graduated from Chapman Tech in 1946. In 1947, she married James J. Jutila; they enjoyed 62 wonderful years before Jimmy passed away in 2009. During the past two weeks, Gladys was surrounded by many friends and family, who kept her smiling with stories and memories. In the end, she was comforted by the presence of her daughter Diana, as well as her brother Bobby and sister-in-law Mary. She leaves behind her son Paul and his wife Tammy of Effingham, NH; daughter Diana Holmes and her partner Ray Scott of East Lyme; brothers and sisters-in-law Bobby and Mary Broga and Paul and Shirley Broga; grandchildren Benji, Danny, Matt, Karyn, Lisa, and Stephie; as well as 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gladys served as the President of the Ladies’ Auxiliary to the Flanders Fire Department for 24 years, and was also a life member of the Kari-Hill Post 5849 VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary. An avid bowler, she also adored the many cats she cared for during her lifetime; she will be greatly missed by those pets she left behind.
The family would like to give a special thanks to those family friends who have provided love and support during this difficult time, as well as to the nurses and staff of Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for their kind and gentle care of Gladys.
