He was born on July 31, 1963, in Des Moines, IA, the son of David Trissel and Sandra Mericle.
Jay served 26 years in the United States Air Force and the Rhode Island Air National Guard. He loved to cook and “trailblaze” creating different recipes.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Donna Sokolski Trissel; his son Kevin Kelly and his wife Shannon of Newport News, VA; his sister Sherry Sears and her husband Willy of Des Moines; his niece Jessi Wriggly and her husband Norm and their two sons Kaleb and Mason of Altoona, IA; and his stepfather Jerry Mericle; in-laws and extended family. His stepmother Glenda Trissel predeceased him.
He leaves an empty space in our lives and will be sadly missed by all his family, extended family and friends. May God give peace to his soul and comfort to those he left behind. May God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can and the wisdom to know the difference.
