Jeffrey L. Murawski, 68, of Niantic passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Bride Brook Nursing Home with his loving daughter by his side. He fought a courageous 4 year battle with Parkinson's. His family would like to thank the amazing staff at Bride Brook Nursing Home for their compassion and care during Jeff's residency and final days.

Mr. Murawski was born on February 14, 1953 in Chandler, AZ to Walter E. and Ruth M. (Dobson) Murawski. He honorably served in the US Navy for 20 years.

Growing up with his father in the Airforce, Jeff traveled with his family to places such as Arizona, California, North Dakota, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Florida, England and Taiwan. He was an athlete from the very beginning, playing baseball, basketball, and bowling. Jeff went to George C. Wallace and Miami-Dade College for a few years, majoring in liberal arts. He enlisted in the Navy and graduated from the Naval Training Center Orlando, Florida in 1977. He proudly served 20 years, retiring in 1997. His primary specialty was as a satcom repair technician and electromagnetic compatibility technician. He earned several honors such as the Navy Expeditionary Medal, National Defense SVC medal, Navy and Marine corps overseas service ribbon, and armed forces service medal. He worked for the 2000 census bureau for 10 years, and Shoprite in Norwich for 8 years. Jeff was an incredibly, selfless, kind hearted, generous, loving father, Popski, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed for his witty sense of humor, talented cartoonism, his incredible love of line dancing, his crazy eclectic ear for music, and the ability to find and burn you a cd of any genre.

Mr. Murawski is survived by his daughter, Erin Jonason and her husband Brian of Niantic; sisters Cynthia Wagner and her husband Mike of OH, Melissa Rhea of TX; grandchildren, Ayden and Benjamin; nieces and nephews, Paul, Kevin, Zach, Nikki, and Becky. He also leaves behind many line dancing friends from the Mishnock Barn, Rhode Island.

I am thankful for every summer spent together, every laughed shared, and every memory made with my uncle Jeffery on this side of Heaven. I will forever cherish them. Looking back on the life of my uncle what I admire the most is his pure heart. I remember growing up receiving cards throughout the year for special occasions that were filled with intentional questions and genuine interest in my life, along with little drawings that we all loved. Days after receiving the news of his passing I found myself sitting in a moment of time that I wanted to never forget, I remembered how my uncle would video tape our times together as a family with great detailed, some footage at the time I didn’t understand why he would film it, but now I get it. He truly knew how precious our time was together and he didn’t want to miss a thing. I love that. I am thankful for the hope we have in Jesus and His truth that one day again through Jesus Himself we will be reunited in Heaven all together. Until that day. I love and miss you uncle Jeffery.

To know him was to experience his joy. He loved well and was a selfless soul. The greatest memories I have with my uncle
Jeff is going to the arcade in Ohio, spending time at Gramskis, and him having a camera in hand capturing memories. To be in no pain anymore and in eternity gives comfort for the days to come. Love you Uncle Jeff, until we meet again 💕

I met Jeff at our favorite place, Mishnock Barn. He was a sweet guy and a good dancer. I still listen to the country music CD's he made for me years ago. He always had a smile for everyone. You will be missed Jeff. My sincere condolences to his family. ❤️😇🙏

Jeff (Popski) was such a huge part of the Mishnock Barn Family. He was so encouraging when one of us just couldn't get a dance down. I remember I was getting so frustrated on this one dance and he stayed right side me coaching me with every step to get me through. We talked about our kids and grandkids. He would bring in photo albums to show his dance family. I will miss his smile, his wit, and his friendship. ❤

I ran into Jeff when he was stationed in Rota, Spain going into the base exchange in the late 90's. I was on Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) for a Site Inspection while stationed at COMFAIRMED Naples, Italy. It was a nice meet and greet, something to remember!
