

Ms. Clarke was born on February 9, 1924 in Harmony, ME to Kenneth R. Cilley and Lucille Bryant Cilley.
She graduated from Bangor High School and Beal Business College in Bangor, Maine. Kathryn moved to Connecticut during WW2 to work for the Department of Defense at Fort Trumbull, and later at Electric Boat through the 1950’s and again in the 1970’s. She also worked as a self-employed bookkeeper and as a Nanny to many children in the local area
She earned a B.S. in Library Science from the University of Connecticut
She married Bronson A. Clarke on May 5, 1961. Bronson passed away in 1986.
She was a member of the Lucretia Shaw chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 112. She was active in Scouting, taught Sunday School, and volunteered in many charitable organizations, including the Jumble Shop at St James Church, New London.
Kathryn is survived by her children: Bronson Clarke Jr. of Waterford; Harold Clarke and his wife Sandy of Niantic; and Pamela Gibson and her husband Mark of Merritt Island, FL; her granddaughters Michelle Ezzell of Waterford and Kathryn Ezzell of Merritt Island FL, and her great-grandson Rody John Thomas Hansley of Merritt Island FL, and numerous nephews, nieces and extended family.
She is predeceased by her brothers, Kenneth Cilley of Connecticut, Gilbert Cilley of New Mexico, and Phillip Cilley of Nevada, and her sister Florence (Joyce) Perry of Cocoa, FL
A memorial service will be held on July 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Flanders Baptist Church, East Lyme.
