

Marjorie Lorraine Ambulos 93, Beloved wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother passed away on December 24, 2022. She was born on May 5, 1929 in Cranston, Rhode Island, daughter of the late Walter Alexander Hazard, and Marion Evelyn (Gross) Hazard. Marjorie attended Cranston High School and upon graduating worked at Travelers Insurance Company. She married the love of her life George Pericles Ambulos on September 27, 1952. They shared 69 wonderful years together. She worked at Perry’s Restaurant (Lyme Tavern) the family business for a short tenure. Marjorie worked at East Lyme High School and at Connecticut National Bank for 18 years retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Rainbow Girls, Eastern Star, and was a parishioner of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Niantic, CT. Marjorie lived life to the fullest and was always on the go with her friends and family. She loved spending time and playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marjorie loved bowling, camping, gardening, square dancing and going to the Newport Play House and Mohegan Sun. Marjorie loved the beach and spending time in Jamestown, RI. She was a sports lover and loved to watch football, golf and tennis. She was also an avid UConn basketball fan. Marjorie was pre-deceased by her husband George Perry Ambulos, brothers Raymond Hazard of Manchester, CT, and Robert Hazard of East Hampton, CT. Her children Cynthia and Nickolas Kortesis of Poughkeepsie, NY, George and Beverly Ambulos of South Windsor, CT and Gregory Ambulos and Jessica Perez of Highland Beach FL survive her. Her grandchildren, Nickolas, Stephanie, Alyssa, Kyle, Krista, Gregory, Mitchell, and Samantha. Her great-grandchildren, Douglas, Evy, Aaron, Jayce, Mia and also many nieces and nephews. Our mother was the sweetest person and loved her family. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her, and will be forever in our hearts.
There will be no calling hours. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 30th, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 400 Main Street, Niantic, CT. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Niantic, CT. In Lieu of flowers, the family wishes that any donations be made to the East Lyme Ambulance Fund.
