Carolyn Cambre Alleman entered into Heavenly rest on Saturday May 27, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was 96. A lifelong resident of Norco, LA and in her last years of The Blake apartments in Harahan, Carolyn was an integral and beloved member of her community, her church, and her large and devoted family.
She is survived by her sister Patricia Walters and many descendants. Proud mother of eight children: Nancy Sevo (spouse John), Debby Wilson (spouse George), Jo Ann Soomro (spouse Taj), Earl J. Alleman, Jr. aka “Rip” (spouse Debbie), Beth Ramsey (spouse Robert), Allyson Lovetro-Marrero (spouse Alan), Reed Alleman (spouse Elaine), and Kay Pietri (spouse Bill) along with her 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Hilda Cambre, her beloved husband Dr. Earl J. Alleman, her brothers Maurice Cambre Jr., Rodney Cambre, Dr. Robert G. Cambre, and Harold “Cooney” Cambre.
Carolyn grew up in Norco and graduated from Destrehan High School. In 1951 she married the love of her life Dr. Earl J. Alleman after only four months of knowing each other. It was clearly the right decision, as they were happily married for 54 years until Doc’s passing in 2005 and raised a large and loving family.
She ran the Command Center for her 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren (and counting).
A devoted Catholic, Carolyn was very active in her church, singing in the choirs at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Norco and Saint Joan of Arc in LaPlace. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and many charitable and community organizations.
She was blessed with a remarkable memory, intellectual curiosity, and deep interest in her loved ones, so much so that she ran the “Command Center,” keeping track of all the locations and vocations of her many descendants with striking accuracy. It also made her a deadly competitor at trivia games! Ever glamorous and charming, Carolyn lit up the room wherever she went and kept everyone entertained with her sparkling wit and joyful contagious laugh. These qualities and her glowing presence will be dearly missed, but the positive impact of her life will continue to ripple ever-outward.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Rd. Destrehan, LA, at 11AM. Visitation to begin at 9:30AM. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
