

Edwin Joseph (EJ) Guidry entered into eternal rest, on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 1:55 p.m. Beloved husband of the late Edna Waguespack Guidry. Father and Father-in-law of Cynthia (Daniel) Smith of Lilburn, GA, Gerrie Guidry of Norco, Daniel (Monica) Guidry, and Susan (the late Buster) Bivona of Laplace, Patrick Guidry of Baton Rouge. Grandfather of Stephanie (David) Brown, the late Jennifer Laurent, Jeffrey Laurent, Dr. Brittany (Bernard) Snyder, Monique (Pat) Lambert, Danny Guidry, Aubrey (Danny) Waguespack, Samantha Bivona, Steven, Maria, and Shelby Guidry. Great Grandfather of David and Kasey Brown, Zachary and Declan Waguespack, Braxton and Brennan Laurent. Son of the late Hortense Landry Guidry and Edwin B. Guidry. Brother of the late Mildred Reed, and Delores Melancon.
Edwin attended the University of Missouri for Diesel Engineering, as well as the Packard Motors School in Detroit for P.T. Boat Engine Schooling. He served the United States Navy from January 25, 1943 to January 26, 1946, a veteran of World War II US Navy Ship A.G.P – USS Oyster Bay – PT Boat Tender, where he was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Medal (4 stars), Victory Medal World War II, Philippine Liberation Medal ( 2 Stars), and the Philippine Unit Citation Badge for his distinguished service. He retired from the Shell Oil Company after 42 years of service. A Charter Member of the Knights of Columbus Red Church Council #3634 of Norco. A distinguished member of the American Legion Spillway Post #195 since 1947. Edwin was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, where he served as a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Holy Name Society, and the Sacred Heart “Yard Boys”.
Family and Friends are invited to a visitation at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church on Monday, January 29, 2018 from 9:00 AM. to 11:00 AM. followed by a Mass of the Christian Burial. Interment to follow at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.HCAlexander.com.
