Emily Hernandez Bourgoyne

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rhodes Bourgoyne, her parents, Ernest and Theresa Daigle Hernandez, her sisters, Margaret Hernandez and Rose Boudreaux, and her brothers, Clay, Frank and Gary Hernandez.

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Bourgoyne (Leslie), Victor Bourgoyne (Connie), Allen Bourgoyne (Jennifer), Dennis Bourgoyne (Laura), and Susan Barrera (Alfred). A proud grandmother of Alfred “Carlo” Barrera, Caroline Barrera, Phoebe Bourgoyne, Cash Bourgoyne, Troy DeWeese, Garrett Overton, Dakota Millwee, Griffin Millwee, David Leishman, and Madison Leishman and six great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Gracelynn, Jaxen, Chance, Remi, and Harlie. She is also survived by her siblings, Julia Angeron, Hazel Sims, Florence Cannella, Pat Bunch, Laura Palermo, Barbara Lake, and Sam Hernandez, sister-in-law Yvonne Bourgoyne, and many nieces and nephews.

Emily was a devoted housewife and mother, and she was a religious education teacher for over 20 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and participating in their school activities.

The family would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to About You Home Care, Visiting Angels, and Compassus Hospice for the care they provided to Emily over the past several months.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Norco, LA. Visitation will be held from 9 AM - 11 AM with Mass to begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan, LA.
