Sweet Leola, I wish I had the words to the vow I made at my son's wedding when I promised him and his new wife that I'd try to be the mother-in-law to him that you were to me because I would say them all over again! From the moment I met you, you embraced me and welcomed me into your home, your heart and your family and I will never forget you for that! I toasted you then and if I could, I would toast you all over again for the blessing you have been to me all of the years since. To my dearest grandmother, I will forever be grateful for the time I've had with you, for the lessons I've learned from you, and for the love I've received from you.  Through the hard times, you always stood behind me and loved me unconditionally.  I love you more than words can express and regret so much lost time I could have spent with you but let a busy life get in the way of.  I've learned the hard way that family should always come first behind God.  I would give anything to have a few months back with you. But I am at peace knowing you are no longer suffering. You are not leaving just going on a vacation where one day we will meet again. I love you and always will. I will see you later because there is never a goodbye. Life continues in other places. ~Just a lil memory~ Mrs leola i hope that when you got to Heaven there was a huge buffet just for you..no more restrictions on what you could eat, it used to just kill me when you so badly wanted to enjoy so many dishes and couldnt because of that nasty Diabetes, i will never forget that face you would make at me when you couldnt have something or just a little you would stick your tongue out and roll your eyes, or the times as you use to tell me we were being bad and we use to sneak you food....Making my baked macaroni and potato salad will never be the same and bringing it over to you and having you tell me to hide it in the fridge because that was all for you :) and we use to just laugh. Thank you  for leaving me with so many memories that brings a smile to my face.

To the family I share in your sorrow on the loss of your Mother. I will never forget Leola. She showed me kindness as a young teacher at DHS. I missed her when she retired and I will miss her now that she gone home to be with Jesus.  I only want her family to realize that she is in a better place. Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning. So I say be strong in the Lord and he shall stengthen thy heart.

AND JUST 2 WEEKS AGO YOU LOOKED AT ME AND TOLD ME HOW MUCH YOU LOVED ME & IT MEANT SO MUCH BECAUSE I GOT TO TELL YOU JUST HOW I LOVE YOU.  THE MOST FONDEST MEMORY YOU HAVE LEFT WITH ME IS THE NIGHT AT ST CHARLES HOSPITAL AND YOU WERE SO VERY SICK AND I ASKED YOU IF I COULD PRAY WITH YOU AND YOU GRABBED MY HAND AND PRAYED WITH ME WORD FOR WORD...I WILL CHERISH THAT MOMENT FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.YOU HAVE HELPED ME IN WAYS, YOU'LL NEVER KNOW.. I JUST WANTED TO TAKE THE TIME TO THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DID FOR ME & BRYAN AND LOVING US UNCONDITIONALLY AND ALWAYS GIVING US YOUR POSITIVE INSIGHT INTO OUR FUTURE. But Jesus’ love illuminated every dark and fearful glade. And he came Himself to meet me in that way so hard to tread; and with Jesus’ arms to lean on, could I have one doubt or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely, for I love you dearly still; try to look beyond earth’s shadows, pray to trust our Fathers’ will. There is work still waiting for you, so you must idly stand; do it now; while life remaineth you shall rest in Jesus’ land. When that work is all completed, he will gently call you home; Oh, the rapture of the meeting, oh, the joy to see you come!

In tears we saw you sinking, we watched you fade away. You suffered much in slience. You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage. You felt your hope descend,but dstill you kept on fighting until the very end. God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So, he put his arms around you and whispered "Come to me." So when we saw you sleeping, so peaceful from the pain, we could not wish you back, to suffer that again.

I could write a book to and about you..but will make this short. How Blessed we have been to have you in our lifes for as long as we did. You are and will be truly missed. Even though we butted heads alot...it was a blessing to be there and take care of you in those last few weeks. I would never trade those days for anything. I saw the misery and pain in you and I knew it was time for you to go and be with our Loving Father. I wait for the day I will be with you again. You have taught me many lessons in life...the most important one if family values. No matter what hurt was put on you by others, you never stop caring about people. If I could be 1/3 the woman, mother, and friend you are...I will be blessed. Thanks mom for loving me unconditionally. My heart is filled with your love forever and ever.

i so remember the talk we had when my mom passed and you were right you dont find love like my parents shared you brought that to my attention. im going to keep this short cause this is very hard. there must be one hex of a party going on up there with all the destrehan dr angel's. you will be missed.

My Dear Mother, it was a long journey for you and not an easy one at times. You will be missed more than you ever thought.

It gives me peace to know you are no longer suffering and are where you belong.
The things you left behind will get us through these times.
