

Mary (Lou) Elizabeth Eris Oubre, raised in Napoleonville, LA, and residing in LaPlace, LA, passed away at St. Joseph Hospice on April 8, 2017, at the age of 87. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, J. Bradley Oubre; daughter Lezanne Grimaldi and husband Jack; sons, James (Buck) Oubre, Wilson (Bill) Oubre and wife Paula, Robert (Bob) Oubre and wife Angie, and Ben Oubre and wife Sheila, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sister Billie Blanchard and husband Donald, and other brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson (Bill) and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Eris, sisters Dollie Faucheux and Sheila Simmons. Mary Lou graduated from Nicholas State University and retired from teaching in the St. Charles Parish school district, after 33 years. Always the teacher, she spent many summers teaching swimming, and after retirement continued what she loved which was helping children to learn as a story teller. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral services to be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Destrehan LA. Visitation is between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., and will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial and interment to follow in the church cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.HCAlexander.com.
