Paul Anthony Fontana Jr.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Anthony Fontana and Esther Williams and his infant daughter, Paula Fontana. Paul served his country in the United States Airforce, including service in Vietnam during the Vietnam War as an aircraft firefighter; then worked for the United States Postal Service, from which he retired.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 21 years, Lydia Oubre Fontana; children, Philip Fontana (Nicole), Shelley Cannatella (Brian), Christopher Fontana (Veronica Bridges), Penny Kissinger (Vic); stepchildren, Terry “Peanut” Weber, Jr. (Brigitte), Kristi Bernard and his brother, Scott Fontana (Gayle); 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Paul enjoyed playing softball and cabbage ball, watching the Pelicans and LSU and will be remembered for his quiet strength, dedication to his family, and faithful service to his country.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at West St. Charles Baptist Church in Boutte, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 9AM until the time of service at 11AM. Burial to follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Luling, Louisiana.
