Sheila S. Hymel

Sheila S. Hymel entered peacefully into Heaven on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. A devoted wife of Morris P. Hymel, Sr. of 57 years. A loving mother of Morris P. Hymel, Jr. (Tracie), Douglas J. Hymel (Cheryl). Daughter of the late Berchman (Bert) J. Songy, Sr. and Diana Lirette Songy. Sister of Berchman (Bert) J. Songy, Jr. (Georgina), Lisa S. Robert, Jessie S. Zeringue (Eddie), and Jessica D. Cook. A proud grandmother of Emma H. Porche (Todd), Davis Hymel, Grace Hymel, Lexi H. Chiasson (Cole), Lynn Hymel and great grandmother of Benjamin Billiot and Rylan Hymel. She is also expecting another great grandchild later this year. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, other relatives and friends. Age 76, a native and resident of Hahnville, LA. She retired from St. Charles Parish Council with 20 years of service. She also worked for Our Lady of the Holy Rosary school of religion for many years and was a secretary for Hahnville Elementary school many years ago. She traveled the country with her husband who worked in construction and made friends with everyone she met. She enjoyed crocheting Afghans for everyone. The family loves their “Nonie” blankets. The family would like to extend their thanks for the care and compassion given to Sheila from the Hospice Specialist of Louisiana. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 11:00am with visitation beginning at 9:00am.
