Adam David Keefer of Virginia Beach passed away at his home on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at the age of 27. Adam had a very positive outlook on life; he always saw the glass as half-full. Outgoing, fun-loving and happy, he brought joy to all whose lives he touched. He was kind, caring and compassionate, fiercely loyal to his family and friends, and always ready and willing to walk the extra mile to help someone in need. A native of Norfolk, Adam lived in Aiea, HI; Vienna, VA; Durham, NC; and Coopersburg, PA before settling in Virginia Beach. He graduated from Southern Lehigh High School in Coopersburg, where he played varsity soccer and baseball, and from the National Personal Training Institute in Durham, NC. He loved helping people achieve their fitness goals, and especially enjoyed working with youth athletic teams. Adam is survived by his parents, Joel D. and Jolene K. Keefer and a brother, Jason Keefer, of Fredericksburg, TX, his maternal grandmother, Joan Schaefer, of Gretna, NE, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Donald and Jeannette Keefer of Lebanon, PA, and his maternal grandfather, Mel Schaefer, of Papillion, NE. A Celebration of Life Mass for Adam will take place on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church (5345 Virginia Beach Boulevard, Virginia Beach). The family will receive friends from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on May 28 at the church. Adam loved the Lynnhaven Inlet, where he and his dog Vader kayaked, swam and fished whenever they could. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Adam’s name be made to Lynnhaven River NOW (www.lynnhavenrivernow.org), an organization dedicated to the restoration and protection of the Lynnhaven River, to honor that love. Personal condolences may be offered to the family online at www.woodlawngroup.com.
