

He received his doctoral degree from Iowa State University in economics with a minor in statistics, and began his teaching career in 1972 at Old Dominion University. He taught at several local colleges and military installations until he retired in 1993 from Norfolk State University.
He was a kind and gentle soul and beloved by his wife, daughters and grandchildren. His passion was with music and ballroom dancing.
He is survived by his wife Mary of 57 years, three daughters Ami and husband Bradley, Allie and husband Doug, and Joan and husband Ciaran, and five grandchildren Cameron, Monica, Samantha, Aine, and Seamus. He is also survived by four brothers, four sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place Thursday, February 28, from 5-8 p.m.; funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tim Liu officiating. Interment will immediately the funeral. All services will take place at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, located at 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk VA 23502.
The family will receive guests at the Mayflower Road home immediately after the funeral Friday.
