Albert May

Born April 1, 1928 to Fred and Minnie May, Al was predeceased by his wife of 57 years Corretta A. May, his parents, his brother and many dear friends. He is survived and will be missed greatly by his children; Sally Morris and Steve Gildea, John and Brigitte May, Susan and Allan Maki, Sandra and Howard Filer and Sherry and Doug Reid; 27 grandchildren and 35 great- grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and relatives.

Al served 22 years in the military and was a dedicated and honorable Marine; he loved his country, his wife and family, and Mickey Mouse. Al and Ann resided in Virginia Beach, VA and retired for 19 magical years in Edgewater, FL. Al enjoyed many years of drag racing all over the east coast and held many notable records during his time.

The family wishes to thank “Miss Wonderful” Brenda Walker for her tireless efforts in helping care for our father in his final years. She and he shared an amazing friendship. Additional thanks to Dr. Paul Wenzel and the dedicated staff at Sentara Villages and Kindred Healthcare. We so appreciate the care and kindness he received.

A celebration of his life, with military honors, will be held Monday, March 5th, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA. Reception to follow.
