Artemio Ramirez Udo, age 84, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 11, 2025. Born on Oct. 18, 1940 in Carmay, Rosales, Pangasinan, Philippines, he was the son of the late Victoriano Valdez Udo and Esberta Licudo Ramirez Udo. Besides his parents, his beloved wife Relinda Carabillas Udo, who passed away in 1991, also preceded him. He was raised in Carmay and spent part of his teen years in Quezon City, Philippines. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at Sangley Point, Cavite, Philippines in 1960. He served his country faithfully and honorably retired in 1980.
Artemio was involved in various organizations in Hampton Roads. He was a valued member of the United Ilocano Association of Tidewater (UIAT), the Kahirup Tidewater Foundation, and the Fil-Am Veterans of Hampton Roads (FAVHR). He shared his vocal talents as a choir member at St. Matthew Catholic Church and was proud of being a Freemason at Owens Lodge No. 164.
His affable personality endeared him to many. His generosity and compassion to those in need helped many, especially in his hometown of Carmay. He freely shared his melodious voice in impromptu karaoke sessions and as a featured singer at various events. A “jack of all trades,” he could fix just about anything, including his prized 1963 Chevrolet Nova. His culinary skills brought joy and satisfaction to those he served. A true friend and confidant, he will be sorely missed by all he met.
Left to cherish his memory is son Arland Eric Udo, daughter Arleyne Udo Balam and her husband James, grandchildren Jordyn and Kensington, his last surviving sibling Cresencia Ramirez Udo, and numerous nieces and nephews.
