Billy David Greene

NORFOLK Billy David Greene, 79, passed away Tuesday with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Ethyl; brothers, Udell, Cordell and Raymond; and sister Dorothy. He was married to Barbara Greene for 57 years. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Julie Drewery (Buzz) of Glenns Ferry, Idaho, Cynthia Harrell (Robin) of Virginia Beach, Phillip Greene of Virginia Beach, Kelly Morefield (Charles) of Chesapeake, Gregory Greene (Terrie) of Virginia Beach; sisters, LaVera McGrew of Tulsa Oklahoma, Winogene White, Reatha Schlegel (William) of Oklahoma City, along with many nieces and nephews in Oklahoma as well; grandchildren, Lauren and Elise of Virginia Beach, Kristina and Ashley Morefield of Chesapeake, and Hunter and Christopher Greene of Virginia Beach and many in-laws. Billy was a member of the Air Force and retired from the US Navy after serving in the Korean War. After his retirement from the navy, he worked in the Civil Service for the Department of Defense. He was an active member in the Masons Bayside Lodge and the Khedive Shrine Legion of Honor. He was also a choir member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church. In his spare time he listened to Bluegrass music and had his own Bluegrass band called the Sunshine Express. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Friday, September 9, 2011 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, Va 23502 and where funeral services will be held 11am Saturday in the chapel. Reverend Gene Strictland will be officiating the service.
