The Lord called Claudia Pilson Quinn home Wednesday, March 31, 2021. She had been admitted to Sentara Virginia Beach Hospital that Monday, March 28 with declining health issues and was in the intensive care unit when she passed. Claudia was predeceased by her twin brother, Patrick Pilson and her father and mother, Eugene and Olga Pilson. Claudia was born Dec. 8, 1953, in Danville, Va., where she grew up and often expressed many fond memories of her high school years at GW. Upon graduation, she attended East Tennessee State University, returning to Danville where she began her career with then Southern Railway, later to merge and become Norfolk Southern Railway. She took great pride in becoming one of the first female clerks hired by the railroad. In fact she met her husband of 41 years, Joe, who was working as Trainmaster in Richmond, Va. at the time. Claudia and Joe married in 1980 and moved to Asheville, NC where Joe had been transferred. After numerous relocations throughout the southeast and eventually to the Midwest, Joe retired in 2007. Upon retirement they moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia. Joe often said Claudia was such a trooper for enduring the numerous moves; once, 3 times in a year and a half, so as a result, Claudia got to choose the place to which they retired. Among the various places they lived was Knoxville, Tennessee where Claudia spent her weekends riding her horses, she had two. She loved horses. Claudia also loved tennis and snow skiing which they did often as they could! Of course Claudia’s pride and joy were her four grandchildren, whom believe it or not she loved spoiling. She was constantly perusing catalogs for various surprises to send them. Claudia is survived by her husband of forty-one years, Joseph Patrick Quinn; daughter, Laura Lebeouf and husband, Will and their children, Stella and Felix of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; son, Joseph Patrick, Jr. "Josh" and his wife, Niki and their children, Emma and Milo of Columbus Ohio. A Mass will be held on April 19, 2021 at Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Virginia Beach, Va. A graveside service will be held at a later date, in Danville, Va. In Lieu of flowers, gifts to St. Judes Childrens Hospital in memory of Claudia, would be appreciated.
