Cynthia Veronica Tucker passed away on Monday, July 24th, 2017 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Cynthia was born in the Parish of St. Andrew, Jamaica, West Indies, on February 17, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Enos Fearon and Lydia Smith. She was the widow of Arthur George Tucker who passed away in 2008 after 62 years of marriage.
Cynthia completed Practical and Theoretical Nurse training from Gwendol’s Nursing Home in Kingston, Jamaica (JA) in May 1963. Nurse Tucker was a staff and private duty nurse for St. Joseph’s Hospital in Kingston from 1964 through 1967. In 1969 Cynthia and her husband migrated to the United States of America to raise their four youngest children and exposed them to new opportunities that were not present in their hometown of Kingston, Jamaica. Not long after their arrival to New York, Cynthia was employed by the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City. She was a dedicated and loved staff member of HSS. After many years of service, she retired as a Nurse Technician from the Orthopedics department.
Cynthia was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Church in Queens, New York for nearly 20 years. Most recently, she became a member of Free Will Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She enjoyed reading her Bible and giving to those in need.
She helped raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren when the need was there with no hesitation. Whenever “Grandma” was needed she was there with a listening ear and provided encouraging words. She never had anything negative to say about anyone and she never met a stranger; and that’s why Cynthia was loved by all who knew her.
Cynthia is survived by her brother, Michael Fearon, and wife Denise of Portmore, Jamaica; four children: Vole of Kingston, Jamaica, Franklin and his wife Dayatra of Conyers, GA, Edward of Kingston, Jamaica and Lydia of Queens, NY; eight grandchildren, Margarette and her husband Dean, Helen and her husband Willie, Rachael, Robert, Troy, Anthony, Aliyah and Ian; and six great grandchildren; Kameron, Jalen, Desmond, Veronica, Gabriel, and Ava.
