Dr. Cyrus Albert Altimus, Jr., 85, passed away on June 21, 2020. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio to the late Cyrus A. and Rachel C. Altimus, Sr. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam and Korean Wars. Cyrus graduated from Penn State University where he received his Doctorate Degree. He became an educator teaching at several universities and finally retiring after being Dean at both IUP (Indiana University of Pennsylvania) and VUU (Virginia Union University) in Richmond.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Ruth V. Altimus; daughter Kathleen Annette Stirvans (Barry) of OH; son Richard Alan Altimus (Deborah) of OH; step-son Ernest Roberts Downs (Rosie) of FL; 5 grandchildren, Amanda Stahl (Bryan), Marc Altimus, Elizabeth Wilkerson (Derek), Katherine Elaine Downs, and Carol Elizabeth Downs; 3 great grandchildren, Lincoln Foster Downs, Sidney Downs, and Donovan Isaac Stahl; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Monday, June 29, 2020, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.
