

David D. Blood, 66, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2022, in Norfolk, VA. David was born in Fargo, North Dakota and was raised by his parents Hiawatha and Adeline Blood (deceased). He is predeceased as well by his birth mother Dolores Waclawik, with whom he was reunited this year.
He was the loving and devoted husband to Ann Blood and caring father to Rachel and her husband Will Shackelford. David was an affectionate Granddad to his two granddaughters, 8 year old Corinne and 5 year old Lena. He is also survived by three half-brothers, Gary Evenson, Rick Waclawik and his wife, Laurell, and Mike Waclawik. He is predeceased by his half-brother, Jeff Evenson.
David retired from the Norfolk Police Department where he served as an officer of the law for 25 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the National Rifle Association, and the Blue Knights.
David will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, love of history, his gentle nature, and for giving the best bear hugs. He was the ultimate role model for his daughter, and he will be greatly missed.
There will be a graveside service held at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 10:00am.
