

On March 25, 2016, Donald Lee (Denny) Denson, Sr., left this Earth through the Gates of Heaven. He was born April 30, 1942 to the late Alfred L. Sr. and Catherine V. (Wallace) Denson in Norfolk, Virginia. He would have been married to Judith C. (Judy) Denson for 50 wonderful years on May 28th.
He is survived by two sons, Donald Lee Denson, Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA and Kevin Matthew Denson, and his wife, Holly, of Brandon, MS. Denny, fondly known as PawPaw, was also survived by 7 grandchildren, Whitney Taylor, Colleen Elizabeth, Donald Lee III, Samantha Mae, Breanna Leigh, Zoey Camille and Kadence Grace, one sister, Joanne Brandt, and her husband, Ron, of Topeka, KS, sister-in-laws, Adel of Chesapeake, VA , and Joanne Delanoy of Binghamton, NY and his pork skin eating dog, Cookie. He was predeceased by his brothers, Alfred L. Jr. and John W. Denson.
Denny’s favorite times were spent gardening in the yard and many many hours enjoying his grandchildren.
Denny served in the U. S. Coast Guard for 4 ½ years. He was employed at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA as a Planner/Estimator in the Public Works Dept. for 27 years, retiring in 1993. Afterwards, he enjoyed his final work years at CB Richard Ellis, as a Maintenance Mechanic, retiring in 2000.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Denny’s life will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
