

Dorothy Davidson Jennings, 93, passed away peacefully September 20, 2013. Born March 13th, 1920 in Norfolk, VA. She was an active and lifetime member of Norview United Methodist Church. She continued on the Worship Service Committee (the preparation for communion) for many years after the death of her sister “Dee Dee” Dixon who performed these duties for over 50 years. She belonged to the Ruth Reinfeld Bible Class. She was an avid golfer and belonged to the Kempsville Green Golf Association. She is a member of several bridge groups of life long friends who have played together for over 50 years. She graduated from Norview High School and attended James Madison University (JMU).
She is survived by her loving and caring daughter Judith Jennings Burnett and her husband George of Virginia Beach. She is predeceased by her devoted husband for over 62 years Carlton Durwood Jennings, her parents Daniel Walter and Emily Davidson, two sisters Hortense D. Dickerson and Elizabeth (Dee Dee) D. Dixon and her husband Lewis A. Dixon, two brothers James (Buddy) A. Davidson and his wife Alice (Bootsie) Davidson and Dickie Davidson and his wife Phyllis. She leaves many loving nieces, nephews, and friends giving special thanks to her niece Emma W. Zimmerman, and her niece Carolyn D. Zanin for their devotion. She loved her church and her family giving freely to those who needed her.
Visitation will be held Monday, Sept. 23, from 6-7pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk. A service will take place Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 11am at Norview United Methodist Church, 1112 Norview Ave. Norfolk, VA with Rev. Joe Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk.
