

Edward J. Brady, 87, passed away peacefully in his Chesapeake home on Monday, December 1, 2025. Ed was born in Uniontown, PA and is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Doris Brady, Née Barbee, his father, Edward L. Brady, his mother, Mattie O. Brady, and sisters, Patricia Sullenberger, and Rita Brady. He is survived by their children, Ron Brady (LuAnn), Rhonda Lucas (Jimmy), and Tammy Craig (Jim), his brother, Robert Brady (Carol), and sister Pamela MacDonald (Joe). He was known as Papaw to their grandchildren, Adam Lucas (Cady), Brent Lucas (Rachel), Carl Lucas (fiancé Lauren), Morgan Craig, Justin Craig, (fiancé Georgia), and great-grandchildren, Noah and Emmie Lucas, and Brady Lucas.
Ed joined the Navy at 18 years of age where he was an Engineman 3rd class on the USS NAHANT. After 4 years of service in the Navy, he became a successful salesman of restaurant equipment retiring from Taylor Freezer in 2001.
Ed and Doris loved attending auctions together that provided them with many different collections. He enjoyed dancing, listening to music, reading, working in his yard and keeping his pool sparkling and pristine, which he took great pride in. He was very handy and could fix anything that was broken. He was excellent at refurbishing furniture and doing any kind of woodworking. He was a faithful servant of God and read his bible daily. He loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed attending church services with Shirley Tetterton, his close companion, with whom he found great joy in spending much of his time. He was a generous man who was always willing to help his family, friends, and neighbors in any way that he could.
Ed will be greatly missed and loved by all and will be in our hearts forever.
A funeral service for Edward J. Brady will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, located at 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA, 23502. The service is scheduled for Monday, December 15, 2025, the visitation will start at 10am with the service starting at 11:00am.
