

Norfolk, VA – Edward Simms, 90 passed on September 14, 2017 at 11:12 am in Sentara Leigh Hospital. He was born in Stone, Kentucky on March 29th, 1927 to the late Walter and Eva Simms and served in the Navy for 20 years earning the Bronze Star along with numerous other medals. Edward retired in 1965 and went to work for the Naval Air Rework Facility as a Rigger and retired from there in 1986. Mr. Simms was a long-time resident of Norfolk, VA where he attended Hyde Park Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling with his friends at AMF Bowling Alley on Little Creek Road and watching the Redskins. He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Mildred Katherine Simms, son: Gene Tuck and daughter: Silvia Blackburn.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sons: Oscar Roy Crawford and Hershel Lucas Tuck (Gloria), grandchildren: William Tuck (Connie), Darlene Gimbert, Daniel Tuck (Shannon), Holly Polston (James), Gene Tuck Jr, Jeffry Tuck along with great grandchildren: Crystal Cook (Jonathan), Daniel Tuck, Ashley Gimbert, Arianna Tuck, Finn Polston and Celilia Polston.
The family will receive friends at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 East Virginia Beach Blvd on Monday September 18 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM. His funeral service is Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Woodlawn.
