Elizabeth "Beth" Mapalo Cu, 80, passed away on February 29, 2024. She was born in Sta. Theresa, Tubao, La Union, Philippines to the late Gaspar Mapalo and Estefania De Vera Mapalo. Beth taught elementary students at Letran and Sta. Scholastica in Manila. She moved to the United States; stayed in Chicago; employed as a photographer and picture developer at Lifetouch studios. Beth married Florencio D. Cu and moved to Norfolk, Virginia. She became a parishioner at St. Pius X Church and St. Gregory the Great Church. Beth worked at the Navy Exchange. She loved to cook dinengdeng and pinakbet. Beth liked to go to the casino with close friends. She was a very compassionate, friendly and jolly person and radiated warmth, sincerity and honesty in her relations to others. Beth was truly a very humane and beautiful human being.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her very lucky husband of 40 years, Florencio “Tony” D. Cu; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends, both here and in the Philippines.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11: 00 A.M. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk.
