Elpidio Manoso

Elpidio Manoso Jr., 74, passed away Saturday May 24, 2008. Known as Junior to family and Al to friends and neighbors, Mr. Manoso was born December 20, 1933 to Elpidio Sr. and Helen Manoso in Norfolk, VA. He retired from the U.S. Army after 27 years of service in Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Lebanon, Ethiopia, Germany, and Vietnam. Mr. Manoso was Chief of Security and "Military Mike" at the Military Circle Shopping Center from 1978 until his retirement in 1998. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 53 years Martha Manoso; four sons: Elpidio Manoso III and wife Elizabeth of Newport News, Leon Clark Manoso and wife Stephanie of Chesapeake, Kenneth Paul Manoso and wife Kimberly of Virginia Beach, and Dr. Mark William Manoso and wife Amy of Tacoma, WA; one daughter Helen Avis Carpio of Nashua, NH; one brother Wayne Manoso and wife Kathy of Virginia Beach; three sisters: Carol Baldwin and husband Bart of Virginia Beach, Brenda Henry and husband Phil of Lebanon, TN, Anna Kurtyka and husband Tom of Saratoga Springs, NY; 10 grandchildren; and 26 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents and four sisters Linda Faye Acel, Mildred Henning, Gloria Godfrey, Margaret Manoso, and a grandson Matthew Lee Manoso. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, May 31, 2008 in the chapel at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Crematory, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk.
