Elva Iris Tejeiro

(March 23, 1934—August 10, 2025)

Elva Iris (Lafuente) Tejeiro, 91, of Statesville, NC, passed peacefully at her daughter’s home in Yorktown, VA on August 10, 2025 of natural causes. Elva was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico in 1934. After graduating high school and moving to New York, she married her wonderful late husband and was blessed with two daughters from whom she took great joy. Elva enjoyed spending time with family, crafting, and traveling, and she had the opportunity to grow cherished friendships and to claim communities as varied as New Jersey, Florida, Virginia, and North Carolina as her home.

Elva was preceded in death by her late husband, Julius Tejeiro, brother Angel (Richie) Lafuente, and her parents Ricardo and Julia Lafuente. She is survived by her sister Carmen (Lafuente) Mills (Frank brother-in-law) of Virginia Beach, VA; daughters Jennifer Tejeiro of Statesville, NC, and Audrey (Tejeiro) Rafferty (Robert son-in-law) of Yorktown, VA; grandchildren Amber Tejeiro of Hickory, NC, Brent Gluck of Virginia Beach, VA, and Jason Gluck of Currituck, NC; and six beautiful great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 12pm-1pm with service immediately following at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA. Elva will be interred at Kent-Forest Lawn, Panama City Beach, FL, where she will join her late husband in eternal rest. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to Riverside Hospice Care Virginia Peninsula are appreciated.
